We anchored in Ormos Skhinounda before the big blow.....just beside Ormos Maltezana...lovely protected bays.
Can you see the rusty old metal ladder above and below??
During the cloudy rainy stormy afternoon as the winds increased, we dragged in 45 knots. That is why.... we were hooked onto the rusty ladder in question...Bruno pulled it onboard and then we had all sorts of fun and games reanchoring.
Realising that there was so much thick weed underneath, not possible to see with the cloud cover..... we changed direction and headed back over to Ormos Livadhia which is very spacious with a sandy bottom.
50 knots belting us on the side as we returned...the sea was fuming, hissing, sheets of white gusts........,but we made it rapidly....boat and us completely covered in salt water.
This time for extra security, Bruno threw out 2 anchors in tandem...fortunately we have 100 metres of chain so out went 90 metres in 6 metres of water....they did not move!
Today we lifted the lot easily in calmer conditions, but will always have the second anchor ready to go just in case.
During our Caribbean years, we used to successfully tandem anchor very very often, but first time here for years.
Later we will say 'au revoir' to Lorna and Simon over drinkies as we are sailing in different directions..
