Très kitch! (ceramic work seen all over Sicily)
RIPOSTA was covered in black ashes from Mt Etna, yet again recently active.
Actually like heavy 'black snow', the locals were busy busy sweeping and using shovels to clear their driveways, streets, steps etc.
There exists a marina, but just imagine the state of one's yacht!! Horror!
Our Hotel at Giardini-Naxos (Cape Schiso) built on black volcanic rock, was very simple, clean, nice big room, but what a position with a balcony over hanging the roaring crashing waves...pretty impressive!Amazing views up to TAORMINA and from the 'breakfast' terrace, up to Mt Etna.
Unfortunately, we did not have a clear day, so I have managed to find a few better photos of Mt Etna on 'google images'.
The highlight here of course is the Greek-Roman theatre. (see photos)..a definite MUST!
I cannot imagine how busy it must be during the summer months....fortunately we were able to appreciate this remarkable situation calmly.
