However, as the meteo conditions were not favourable, we waited patiently rechecking and working on the boat. Eventually we found a 24 hour opening between very strong southerlies and gale force northerlies....75% of the sail north was acceptable, very bumpy, but good strong westerlies....so we managed a min of 7 knots.
Unfortunately, we battled during the early hours of the morning beating hard into the seas, rain and north winds which arrived earlier than we had hoped.
Pretty exhausted, finally anchored in Ormos Livadhia under the spectacular ruins of the castle and high village 'chora'....very Cycladic style houses and blue domed chapels/churches. The castle is cleverly lit up at night...a pleasant surprise as we thought it would only be during the high season..but this weekend is the big Greek Easter period.
