Extra special memories for me, as , way way back when I was young...about 25, I spent 6 weeks vagabonding around Crete...we camped on this beach under the beautiful palm trees taking full advantage of the deserted surroundings. (Nowadays there are sun beds covering the whole beach during the high season). There was even a fresh water stream flowing into the sea which was very convenient!!
At that time, my friend and I were 'touring Europe' on two bright yellow French Mobylettes (small 49 cc motor bikes) equipped for camping and living rough, which we did for over 6 months.
We hiked the impressive Samaria Gorge on the south west coast of the island .... also a highlight.
(Just for info...we departed from the south coast of France, motored 'zigzag' through Italy, ferried into Greece, down to Crete and the islands, then motored up to Thessaloniki, through to Istanbul , Turkey, where we camped on the banks of the spectacular Bosphorus. Then headed north through 'now' Croatia, Austria etc. and eventually found ourselves in the Black Forest region of Germany, with the cold weather upon us. Therefore, it was definitely time to sell the bikes and return to London where we were living at the time )
Voila!...poor Bruno. Did he realise what he was getting into, meeting this nomad Australian?
