En route to Thessaloniki, we revisited Thasos (alongside) for a few days, where we enjoyed the lively company of Catherine and Philippe S/Y 'Armogan'.
Before sailing over to the Chalkidiki region, we decided to spend a last night at anchor in a small bay SW Thasos...not a wise decision! Our anchor was blocked securely in between 2 rocks, not visible, as under the sand....the shallow water was clear when we anchored, appeared to be regular sand off a beach. But no...!
After trying for 2 hours, a couple of pleasant local guys from a small boatyard appeared, but they could not help. However, they did organize to send a diver from the north of the island, who arrived fully equipped and, being young, healthy and fit, managed, after great efforts, to free us at last!
OOFF...nevertheless, cheaper than purchasing a new anchor!
Followed by an overnight navigation to Thessaloniki, where we are now installed in the Aretsou Marina, surprisingly very few boats... just local motor boats and yachts, but loads of empty spaces. The marina is old and showing it's age, as is the case often in Greece.
'Bigsky' is moored just opposite us...looking forward to catching up with Barb and Con soon..
