END OF WINTER SEASON in Lefkas Marina....Jumble sale, lots of laughter and lots of drinkies...brilliant afternoon! Wonderful memories.....
Our friends, Angie and Keith came for dinner and as usual Bruno prepared a delicious meal .....confit de canard, ++++ lots of other goodies. Merci beaucoup, mon amour!
We have well used our hire car for the past few days...LIDL has seen us a few times, plus the local Carrefour....'Pacific Pearl' is heavily loaded.
BUT the best souvenir was our absolutely gorgeous day exploring the impressive west coast of this island.....STUNNING SPECTACULAR VIEWS FROM THE SINOUS MOUNTAINOUS ROADS, STEEP CLIFFS, PINE FORESTS AND THE TURQUOISE WATERS OF THE IONIAN SEA...fortunately practically all alone!
Out of season...25 euros a day...not bad!!
Very few cars on the roads at this time of the year!
I DEFINITELY THINK THAT WE ARE FAR TO OLD FOR THESE CLOSE UP SELFIES!!
Beautiful Barney....his owners, Linda and Kevin, are away, so we were in favour for just a few days....hasn't been back to visit since!
Since my return to Greece, the weather has been amazing...we have all been taking advantage of the bright warm dry days to prepare our boats, as most of us leave the Marina end of March.
Bruno and I will hire a car next week to 'stock up', take a trip around the island, and socialise a bit more before heading off. I have been back the Gym enjoying their exercise classes once again, but only for a few more days, then we will wait impatiently for the water to be warm enough to swim.....
Dommage! France did not win the 6 Nations Rugby tournament .... maybe next year!!
THE WILDLIFE IN AUSTRALIA IS JUST SO SPECTACULAR ...JUST LOOK AT THIS GORGEOUS LOOKING PARROT...AND THERE ARE JUST ENDLESS VARITIES....
THE HUGE SWIMMING LAGOON ON THE ESPLANADE IN CAIRNS IS EXTREMELY POPULAR WITH TOURISTS AND LOCALS ALIKE..ONE CAN UNDERSTAND WHY....
TWO DAYS BEFORE THE END OF JANUARY, I RECEIVED AN E MAIL FROM MY CANADIAN SAILING FRIENDS BARB AND CON ...
'WE ARE ARRIVING IN CAIRNS NEXT SATURDAY..I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!
SO HERE WE ARE ENJOYING A DELICIOUS LUNCH AT THE SALTHOUSE RESTAURANT BY THE MARINA IN CAIRNS....WHAT A SURPRISE...I THOUGHT THEY WERE IN PORTUGAL!
TALK ABOUT VAGABONDS ....!
BARB AND HER WONDERFUL MAN, CON, LIVE ABOARD THEIR BEAUTIFUL SAILING YACHT 'BIG SKY'.....
CHECK OUT THEIR INCREDIBLE ADVENTURES ON
SANDY AND PETER...LIVE IN NOOSA HEADS ....FRIENDS FROM WAY WAY BACK IN FRANCE.
They organised to collect me at the airport in Brisbane after my Cairns visit, invited me to lunch with their lovely locals at a Bistro on the River, then delivered me back to the airport for my return flight to Europe .....wonderful people!

Bruno, however did spend a couple of weeks in France catching up with his family, medical controls etc....
my nephew, Drew and his lovely partner, Ebony, kindly collected me at the Brisbane airport, which was just wonderful after my long voyage from Athens...an Emirates flight on the huge impressive 380 from Dubai.
They have just moved into a lovely old Queenslander home, all modernised and spacious, so I couldn't wait to see it all, plus meet their new 5 month old Labrador pup, Ruby.. so gorgeous, so shiny and black.
My brother John joined us, so that was a perfect hot day to take Ruby for a swim in the Brisbane River, followed by a delicious prawn BBQ on their deck, washed down by lots of fresh local wines.
Thank you both, Drew and Ebony...looking forward to your visit on 'Pacific Pearl' beginning September..
