Beautiful roses from the weekly market in Agios Nikolaos...very reasonable prices.
2 euros for 10 short stemmed and 4 euros for 10 long stemmed...not bad!
Adding a bright touch of colour to Pacific Pearl, nice new red soft genoa sheets for the new season.
After our departure from the marina last Thursday morning, we slowly motored around to Spinnalonga Lagoon (photo above) where we anchored in one of the bays opposite Elounda...just as we love it...all alone, perfectly calm conditions, where we enjoyed our first BBQ of the season. Delicious, merci Bruno!
After, yet again, studying the wind predictions, we decided on an early morning departure at 4......if we did not leave immediately, we would have been blocked there for at least another week.
Good decision, as we had a fantastic day's sailing north with easterly winds pushing us comfortably along the smooth seas at an average of 7.3 knots... we were absolutely thrilled for our first sail of the season!
Pity that we experienced messy seas off the east coast of Santorini, then strong seas and winds crossing the channel towards Ios. The winds have been very strong here at anchor and will blow until at least Sunday night, possibly a calmer day Monday (when we will move on), then very strong SW predicted for Tuesday.
Wonderful feeling to be back in an anchorage ....with our faithful Madame Bugel anchor well dug into the sandy bottom...always clear turquoise water around these islands.
