FIRST SNOW OF THE WINTER SEASON.....way over in the distance...there will be more! Now, what about this new proposed tax for all boats cruising in Greek waters .....???
Monday 18th Nov....Unfortunately more rain announced this coming week, so we made the most of a sunny warm weekend....fantastic FULL MOON last night!
Bruno about to enjoy a late brunch, and yes, with Vegemite.....we still have some delicious Sicilian marmalade also.
Read this am that Mt. Etna is on fine form again giving a wonderful firework display, with ash blowing all over the island!! Not so nice, if settling on the boats....Maybe lucky we are not in Sicily at present!
MAYBE THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR WINTERING PERIOD, IS THE RUGBY!
Apart from the TOP 14 competition in France and the H. Cup (European), there are many international matches on at present. Not forgetting the 6 Nations which kicks off in February 2014.
We are able to watch the matches either on the boat, via internet streaming, or in the local Irish Pub, très sympa, or at the Marina bar.
Enjoyable for Bruno to watch with other rugby enthusiasts from the UK, N.Z. or Australia etc.... great ambiance for the France - N.Z. match last weekend ....unfortunately France lost, but just.....bravo!
This coming Saturday, England play the 'redoutable' N.Z. team....a must see!
Raining nearly non-stop these past 4 days....no comment!
Our thoughts today are with our Aussie friends, Shani and Dave S/Y 'Scarlett'... who have just arrived in Turkey. Sadly their gorgeous fluffy Bonaparte died of poisoning in Kas.. Be strong and love each other ...life can be so cruel....!
Sadly, end of season..... last BBQ.....last swim (no more stingers), absolutely glorious weather these past 2 weeks! Practically not a breath of wind, so we certainly took advantage of the wonderful anchorages around Meganisi/Levkas area.
A change of plans for this Winter.......
Instead of Messolonghi, 'Pacific Pearl' is now secure in the marina at LEVKAS.
A very lively town, incredible choice of food shops....great butchers, fruit & vegie vendors everywhere, so many bakeries, not forgetting a small Carrefour, an AB, a Lidl etc etc....we will not starve. Plus an interesting selection of small boutiques, the usual bars and tavernas. Many shipchandlers and 'bricolage' hardware shops around...have to be careful!
I am a happy lady, as in the marina complex, there is a gym just over from our boat....therefore I have already got into the rythmn... can use the equipment, as well as join either aerobic, pilates or zumba classes if I wish. Plus Bruno has our small bicycles all up and running ...can't wait to explore!
Plenty to keep us occupied 'wintering' our boat...sails to scrub and clean, plus a million other jobs. Then to start the inside cleaning in detail .... but will wait for the colder weather to arrive.
