Summer arrived last week...water now a delicious 26°, perfect!
We are certainly enjoying these stunning DALMATION islands......above 'Pacific Pearl' on a mooring bouy at HVAR town. (no fee, as we were ashore when the guy passed and he never returned, lucky us!!)
A very interesting town, even though so very touristy with classy boutiques, bars, nightclubs etc......a mixture of Symi, Saint Tropez, and Naoussa (on Paros).
Magnificent buildings, including the huge fort, the spectaclar main square, rich red terracotta rooftops, churches, all immaculate..so much to see.
But I imagine that in the height of the summer, it must be partying non stop!
All too much for us...24 hours was enough, really far too busy with all the taxis, ferries, gulets, yachts and other craft all turning around looking for a tiny space to anchor. Fortunately we had no wind, would have been extremely difficult if 25-30 knots!
The group of lovely low lying islets just south of Hvar across a narrow channel are called the PAKLENI Islands offering so many protected calm bays....'Pacific Pearl' and crew much prefer this option.... thankfully we found a 'secluded' one, which we 'shared' with just a couple of other yachts. Many more coves to explore when we return later in the season...
Today, 21st June, we discovered even better.... on the north coast of Hvar, Uvula ZUKOVA, must be one of the most sheltered indented bays in this area, clear clear waters, surrounded by pines growing to the water's edge, lush green vegetation, including thyme and rosemary, beautiful odours!
NO restaurant, just a few local fisherman and a couple of typical old stone houses, maybe holiday homes...very popular here with the locals who escape from the hordes of tourists who frequent the 'in' places.
We were all alone until late afternoon, now only 3 yachts, so can't complain!! Honestly, we could be in the Gulf of Bodrum in Turkey, so similar in many ways!
