We have been very lazy at anchor in Ormos Zoyioryia on the wooded island of Spetsai...mostly a day anchorage, so usually lovely and calm at night...clear limpid glorious turquoise water....BUT there are many big 'stink boats' around, as we are not too far from the Athens area. Fortunately they all tend to wizz off late afternoon towards the activity of restaurants and bars...
Porto Kheli, just opposite on the mainland is a huge nearly landlocked bay, well protected with all round shelter from the ever changeable winds...great for provisions, a tourist area with hotels and many boats at anchor...all shapes and sizes...mostly big! Certainly practical....when blowing 30 knots outside....as happened recently, when we had to quit our anchorage rapidly with a changing situation.....
During this past week, we have also been over to Astrous, up in the Gulf heading towards Navplion....not a successful night in the port....gusts up to 38 knots, dirty and dusty...a very windy place!
Then over on the other side, we checked out a big boatyard in Kilada...impressive haul out equipment etc...but only a boatyard, no marina...handy if we ever want to haul out for a longer period. The anchorage there is also excellent, super protected in mud.
VERY HAPPY TO HAVE CAUGHT UP WITH SHANI AND DAVE, S/Y SCARLET, from Qld. Australia....ENJOYED OUR EVENING TOGETHER IN PORTO KHELI ANCHORAGE....but forgot to take a photo...hope you manage to find a marina in the south of France for next Winter....
