Many boats of course, but we are in the height of the summer season...our next island will be UNIJE, then CRES and over to the mainland coast of Istria. We will then sail over to Venice, no doubt from Rovinj...but I will write about that later.
Since leaving the Krka River/Sibenik area, we have stayed out in the wonderful islands, not particularly wishing to visit Zadar or other bigger towns, at this hectic period.
Stopped on islands with strange names...eg. Privic, Tijat, Zirje,, Zut, Murter, Pasman, Iz, Ugljan, Molat, Ist etc ....not forgetting all the islands and islets we passed by or just anchored for a refreshing swim.
One has to pay extra special attention whilst navigating these channels...even though the balise system is excellent, there are still many hidden dangers...best to avoid night sailing....
Nearly all the islands are uninhabited and have little or no vegetation, completely barren as you can see by the above photo...surrounded by clear blue sea, with jagged coastlines, hidden coves and underwater caves.
A very popular destination for sailors and scuba divers because of the variety of marine life ... fishing is prohibited throughout the Park.
There are designated overnight anchorages, so if one wants to stay overnight, at anchor, or on a mooring buoy, there is obviously a charge. During the day, however, it is possible to navigate around these strange mysterious islands, as we did.
