Our overnight sail to SKIATHOS in the Sporades, was practically perfect...a full moon + 2 days, so still nice and bright.
We sailed overnight in order to take advantage of the winds, as very quiet conditions predicted for the rest of this week...we certainly would not wish to motor the whole distance of 87 n miles.
However, it was certainly not easy to sail away from the 3 fingers...strong seas, big swells and very little wind made for uncomfortable conditions. But once away from the capes we picked up 16/18 knots of westerlies, turning to north westerlies later on during the night
Unfortunately we experienced a calm period on our arrival just north of the Sporades, before north easterlies kicked in with the new day to push us into our anchorage beside the main town of Skiathos.
The tourist season is still in full swing in Skiathos ,so busy...we have been rapidly thrown back into the real world! But...It was a nice change to eat a delicious gyros followed by icecream...
